Get Up
Andrew Paul of Jesus On The Mainline Debuts Gritty Solo Soul-Rock Single “Get Up”
August 20, 2021: New York-based trumpet player, composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Paul releases his debut solo single “Get Up” today via Ropeadope Records. A robust and uplifting anthem about hard-won independence (“My vision of truth is not / subject to your wishes”), the track was written by Andrew Paul and Tim Emmerick and recorded in Harlem and at Virtue and Vice Studios in Williamsburg. Showcasing Andrew Paul’s fervent, earthy vocals, “Get Up” is gritty and expansive, fueled by a steady, foot-stomping beat. The simple, beat-driven opening unfolds into an elaborate, booming tapestry of sound featuring lush organ, twisting guitar melodies, driving bass, crashing drums, and subtly distorted choral moments.

Lyrics
Fell down asleep completely
My dreams fell deep beneath me
Time to get up
You hit me in the heart but
You can’t roll back this run
And now I’ve gotta get up
My vision of the truth is
Not subject to your wishes
So I’ll get up
I’ve tried hard to protect this
Reality’s objective
So I’m gonna get up
Here’s to my new beginning
The losing and the winning
Yeah, let’s get up
